How To Backup Outlook Email Outlook Express lacks a backup feature, but backing up your mail data is easy. First, you must locate your Outlook Express Store Folder. To do so, start Outlook Express and then from the menu bar select Tools > Options. Go to the Maintenance tab. Click on the Store Folder... button. Select the text and copy it using Ctrl+C. Close the Outlook Express.
Select Start > Run. Press Ctrl-V to paste the folder location in the Open box. Click OK. Select Edit > Select All from the menu in this folder. Make sure all files (including Folders.dbx in particular) are highlighted. Select Edit > Copy from the menu to copy the files. Open the folder where you want to keep the backup copies (on another hard disk, a USB drive or a network drive, for example) in Windows Explorer. Select Edit > Paste from the menu to paste the files to your backup folder.
